I have been working on combining two sewing notions I love into jewelry. The shapes and designs of buttons and zippers are so graphic, when put together the result can be super interesting. There are lots of colors to work with, too. It isn't hard to create the basic bracelet strap with a zipper. (1) Start by measuring the length of the zipper you'll need to go comfortably around your arm. (2) Separate the two zipper sides and lay them flat with the teeth facing outward. (3) Sewing machine stitch close to the edge on both plain sides of the zipper. These two straight stitches will hold the bracelet strap together. (4) Add a metal clasp or stretchy loop closure. (5) Sew on your buttons in any desired number. My rings are made to fit with the closure points centered under the button.
